Beautiful Day with Silver Embossing Paste

Today’s card combines a few fun products that I really wanted to use, so I threw them all together! The large pink flower is from the Beautiful Day stamp set that I heat embossed on Watercolour paper using Clear Embossing Powder and then flooded with water before adding just a touch of Brilliant Red Brusho – I then just let it to dry as it would and this is how it turned out!  I love that you never quite know what you are going to get each time you use the Brusho! The background was also created with a wash of Prussion Blue Brusho, followed by flicking a darker concentration of the same.

That beautiful silver flower in the background was created using the new Silver Embossing Paste and the Sweet Soirée Decorative Masks.  I loved the Embossing Paste when it was first released and to now have it in Silver and Shimmery White as well just makes me love it even more!

Stamps: Beautiful Day
Cardstock: Dapper Denim, Rose Red, Whisper White, Shimmery White, Watercolour Paper, Silver Glimmer Paper
Ink: Rose Red, Basic Black, Versamark, Brusho Crystal Colour
Other: Heat Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Silver Embossing Paste, Sweet Soirée Decorative Masks, Silver Metallic Thread, Glitter Enamel Dots, Rhinestones, Aquapainter

You’re Inspiring Daffodils & Video!

It’s Wednesday already – how did that happen!  I hope you are all keeping safe with Cyclone Gita creating weather havoc here in NZ – I really feel for the West Coast getting another damaging storm so soon after the last one.

Today’s project is the card I created LIVE on my Facebook page on Monday as part of Monday Make!  It uses the lovely You’re Inspiring stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue which features 2 different daffodil images as well as several really useful sentiments.

I coloured the daffodils using Stampin’ Blends using both the light & dark shades of Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie & Smoky Slate.  The ‘paint chart’ style paper on the card front is from the Colour Theory Designer Series Paper Stack which actually features Crushed Curry, but it coordinates really nicely with the Daffodil Delight card base.

The addition of Linen Thread, some background stamping and Brights Enamel Shapes all add texture and interest to the card – it’s all in those finishing touches!  I also added some shading around the outside of the image using the Light Smoky Slate Blend and blended it with the Colour Lifter to add a dimensional effect to the image.

Stamps: You’re Inspiring
Ink: Crumb Cake, Memento Black, Stampin’ Blends: Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Smoky Slate & Colour Lifter
Cardstock: Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Whisper White, Colour Theory DSP Stack
Other: Linen Thread, Brights Enamel Shapes

Thinking Outside of the Box – Easter Basket Blog Hop & Tutorial

Welcome to this months Thinking Outside of the Box Blog Hop and tutorial!  Each month the Thinking Outside of the Box Design Team will be bringing you fabulous projects that are all to do with boxes, bags and packaging!  PLUS each post will have a tutorial for the project so that you can join in the fun too and make your own version!  I can’t tell you how excited I am to be on this fabulous team with demonstrators from EVERY country that Stampin’ Up! does business in!  Here we all are:

This months project is Baskets with a Handle – of course at this time of year Easter baskets springs to mind straight away, which I followed although with a bit of a non-traditional twist!

Easter usually brings pastel Spring colours to mind but of course in New Zealand, Easter is actually in Autumn so I wanted to buck the trend a little and go for something a little bolder extravagant!  I didn’t have any Easter images in my collection, but had been carrying the idea of a Berry & Eggplant peacock around in my head for a week or two so decided to use that on my project here!

I love how the multiple colours on the peacock really bring it to life – along with the addition of some bling!  I demonstrate how to achieve this multi-colour look in the tutorial video below.

Easter Basket Tutorial
The basket itself is really easy to create and can be made larger or smaller just by adjusting your starting piece of cardstock and scorelines.
For this particular box I started with cardstock measuring 6 1/2″ by 6 3/4″
Score short side at 2 1/4″ and 4 1/4″
Score long side at 3/4″, 1 1/2″, 2 1/4″, 4 1/2″, 5 1/4″, 6″ until they intersect with first horizontal score, then turn paper and repeat on the other side.
Cut along score lines
Handle: 2cm x 21cm.  Adhere to inside of basket using Glue Dots

Stamps: Beautiful Peacock
Ink: Berry Burst, Fresh Fig, Elegant Eggplant
Cardstock: Berry Burst, Whisper White
Other: Simply Scored, Berry Burst Metallic-Edge Ribbon, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, Basic Rhinestones, Tutti Frutti Adhesive Back Sequins

Well that’s it from me, but be sure to head around the globe and check out what the rest of the design team have in store for you – remember we each have a free tutorial in our posts!

Epic Brusho

I have had so much fun playing with Brusho and loved teaching it so much last week that I have scheduled in a second Brusho Technique Class for Saturday 17 March if you would like to come and learn several great ways of using this colouring product!  One of the ways I tried using the Brusho was to blow it around my cardstock using a straw – which created this awesome background!

As soon as the background was dry I knew it would pair perfectly with the great Epic Celebrations stamp set – another one of the great FREE stamp sets you can earn during Sale-a-Bration!  The grungy background said ‘teenager’ to me and this stamp set is great for the teens!  The stamping on the background is one of the sentiments from the set and I stamped it repeatedly using my Stamparatus to help line it up each time – I am LOVING the hinge-stepping you can do with this tool!

The sneakers were coloured using Stampin’ Blends which are the perfect choice for any colouring and really easy to use so don’t be scared of them!  I finished the card off with some of the Adhesive-backed Sequins from the Occasions Catalogue – how did we ever manage without these!

Stamps: Epic Celebrations
Cardstock: Island Indigo, Lemon-Lime Twist, Whisper White, Shimmery White
Ink: Brusho Crystal Colour, Memento Black, Island Indigo, Lemon-Lime Twist, Night of Navy Light & Dark Stampin’ Blends, Smokey Slate Stampin’ Blends, Stampin’ Blends Colour Lifter
Other: 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, 2″ Circle Punch, Lemon Lime Twist Cotton Ribbon, Tutti Frutti Adhesive-Back Sequins

Valentine Panda

Who doesn’t love cute Panda’s and especially when they are offering a cute Valentine card, PLUS these pandas are FREE during Sale-a-Bration!  I created this card in my very first Monday Make live video on my Facebook Page so I hope you enjoyed watching it and maybe picked up a few tips that you can use in your own crafting!

The panda was stamped with Black Memento ink so that I could then add a little colour to his love letter using Stampin’ Blends.  The LOVE sentiment comes from the Layering Love stamp set and I simply used a Stampin’ Write Marker and my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up just that part of the stamp where I wanted it – this is a great way to get more versatility from your stamps!

You can’t see it in the photos, but I also ‘splattered’ Wink of Stella over the card front by flicking the brush with my fingernail – another good way to add just a touch of shimmer!

If you didn’t receive a Valentine’s card or anything else today, then please accept this one from me!

Stamps: Party Pandas, Layering Love
Cardstock: Real Red, Powder Pink, Whisper White, Thick Whisper White
Ink: Real Red, Memento Black, Pink Pirouette Light & Dark, Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends; Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker
Other: Big Shot, Sweet & Sassy Framelit Dies, Celebrate You Thinlits Dies, Wink of Stella, Stamp-a-ma-Jig

Valentine Knight in Shining Armour!

I am having so much fun with the Magical Day Bundle!  The fun images and coordinating dies are so great for the kids and the young at heart.  I am always looking for unexpected ways to use my products and this time I came up with a fun Valentine card that I know my sweetheart is going to love!  It’s a nice departure from the traditional red & hearts that we usually associate with Valentine projects, plus it’s a bit funny too!

My hubby is definitely my ‘Knight in Shining Armour’ and I want to let him know it!  The knights are cut from the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper as I wanted the little bit of sparkle they offered, but I also could have used the stamp set and custom coloured them.  I then used the colours in the DSP to create the rest of the card – I like that they are a non-traditional Velentine combo.

The stamp set didn’t have the sentiment I wanted so I just printed one straight onto cardstock and used as usual (this is a great tip if you ever need a specialist sentiment!).  The little flags are cut to look like the campaign flags that always fly when knights are riding into battle!

Stamps: Magical Day
Cardstock: Basic Grey, Smokey Slate, Berry Burst, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Myths & Magic Specialty DSP
Ink: Smokey Slate
Other: Big Shot, Mini Treat Bag Thinlits, Magical Mates Framelit Dies, Linen Thread, 2″ Circle Punch

More Fruity Tags

I mentioned in an earlier post how much my daughter loved the Tutti Frutti Suite – well today’s projects are courtesy of her.  She created all 4 of these tags completely by herself with no input from me whatsoever (I was busy working on something else at the time) – aren’t they awesome!  One pretty proud Mum seeing these completed tags!

I love how she cleverly kept the same layout for each tag and just changed the papers, colours and images – an easy way to create several projects quickly, but they all look very different!

I think I better watch out or she will have my job soon 😉

Stamps: Fruit Basket
Cardstock: Whisper White, Berry Burst, Real Red, Lemon Lime Twist, Tutti-Frutti DSP
Ink: Real Red, Lemon Lime Twist, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede
Other: Itty Bitty Fruit Punch Pack, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, Night of Navy Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, Berry Burst Finely Woven Ribbon, Lemon Lime Twist Finely Woven Ribbon, Silver Metallic Thread, Silver Mini Sequin Trim

Roller Skating Pandas

My youngest daughter turned 8 last weekend and this year she chose to go roller skating for her party, so I themed everything to match.  Here is the cake I created

To carry on the theme I then needed to create a Birthday card that featured skating – but I had no stamps that fitted the bill SO instead I sent some fun Party Pandas skating!

This great stamp set is actually available FREE at the moment when you spend $110 – all part of the awesome Sale-a-Bration promotion until 31 March 2018.  I hand cut the roller skates to fit the pandas and die cut the little wheels using the Magical Mates Framelit Dies. The pandas of course then needed coordinating party hats!

Combined with the bright Picture Perfect Birthday DSP, Tutti-Frutti Sequins & Glitter Enamel Dots this turned out to be a fun & super cute card that Miss 8 loved!
