Bright Bird Banter Blends!

Say that post title 10 times fast! ūüôā¬† Have you seen the cute Bird Banter stamp set – loads of super cute bird images to colour and some funny punny sentiments to go with them!¬† Today’s card is created using one of the Make n Take kits from Stampin’ Up’s November On Stage event – unfortunately I could make the event so had to use a different stamp set than the one featured at the event soI substituted Birds instead

How cool do the strips of bright DSP look Рthese are from the FREE Sale-a-Bration Bubbles & Fizz Designer Series Paper Pack.  I added some background stamping to the Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and you can never go wrong with a tangle of twine for some extra texture.

How cool does the colouring on this bird look?¬† I wanted to highlight how easy it is to combine colours using Stampin’ Blends. I know many people have asked about this as mostly they have only seen colouring done with shades of the same colour, but you can absolutely blend different colours together as well for multiple different looks and to create your own colours!¬† I used the Light Smoky Slate Blend on the birds beak and then shaded it with the Colour Lifter – another great tip for using these pens!

Stamps: Bird Banter
Cardstock: Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist, Whisper White, Bubbles & Fizz Designer Series Paper
Ink: Lemon Lime Twist, Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin’ Blends – Dark & Light Calypso Coral, Dark & Light Bermuda Bay, Dark & Light Daffodil Delight, Light Smoky Slate

Petal Passion Memories & More Video

Whew what a busy week it’s been already and we are only at Wednesday!¬† Tomorrow I will be spending the day supporting my Miss 8 to complete her first Weetbix Kids Tryathlon – she is super excited to give it a go! Sadly Miss 11 has had to withdraw from the event due to an injury.¬† Several hundred children from the local area all take part – swim/bike/run with the whole focus on taking part and giving it a go – it should be a fun day!

I did a Try It Tuesday LIVE video yesterday where I featured how you can use the Memories & More card packs in your card making.  Although these cards are designed for memory keeping, they also have loads of potential for creating quick and easy cards Рespecially good if you are in a tight spot and need a cute card really quickly! I created this card during the video (which you can find below in case you missed it)

I kept this card ultra simple by just adding a stamped sentiment and some rhinestones but the possibilities are endless.¬† Here are 3 more cards that all use Memories & More cards – some have been sponged, one coloured with Stampin’ Blends and one was simply a few cards & a die-cut adhered together!

Stamps: Eastern Beauty
Cardstock: Daffodil Delight, Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black, Whisper White, Petal Passion Memories & More Pack
Ink: Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Stampin’ Blends – Dark & Light Cherry Cobbler,¬†Dark & Light Old Olive,¬†Dark & Light Rich Razzleberry,¬†Dark & Light Night of Navy

Magical Mermaids & Brusho

Happy Monday everyone!¬† I hope you had a great weekend – we had one of those nice weekends where we didn’t HAVE to be anywhere and do anything so we could just relax and decide what to do as we went along!¬† I managed to fit in a little bit of reading which is one of my favourite things to do – I’m currently reading World Without End by Ken Follett – what are you reading?

Today’s card is the result of playing with Brusho to see what it could do.¬† When this piece was dry I immediately thought ‘deep ocean’ so then it evolved from there.¬† I love the circle to create a ‘window’ into the ocean through which to view the mermaids at play!

How awesome are those mermaid images – the large one on top of the circle is cut from the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP (you can’t see it in the pics, but she is all sparkly!), and the smaller mermaids are stamped with the Magical Day stamp set, coloured using Stampin’ Blends and then cut with the coordinating Magical Mates Framelit dies – I love it when everything coordinates like that!

The Brusho background was achieved using watercolour paper and a water spritzer – if you would like to learn how to do this effect then join my Brusho Technique Class on Saturday 17 March, you’ll learn this technique plus several others!

Can you see those tiny little 3-D bubbles – they are the Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes – you will see I used them in several places on this card and even coloured some of them to match.

Stamps: Magical Day
Cardstock: Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Night of Navy, Watercolour Paper, Myths & Magic Specialty DSP
Other: Big Shot, Magical Mates Framelits, Layering Circles Framelits, Layering Squares Framelits, Stampin’ Blends, Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes, Brusho Crystal Colour – Prussion Blue, Moss Green, Water Spritzer

Fruity Gable Box

Have you seen the awesome Silver Mini Gable Boxes in the Occasions Catalogue?¬† They are easy to miss, but you really NEED them in your craft stash because they are SO versatile – and cute!¬† The perfect size to fit a small gift, chocolates, lollies, make-up¬† – all sorts of options for filling them.¬† Because they are a beautiful foil silver you don’t need to go crazy with decorating them – most of the work is already done!¬† A simple tag tied to the top with some ribbon, or add a few extra touches like I have done with this one:

The Fruit Basket stamps are so perfect when you just want a little image to add somewhere Рtags, boxes, cards.  I also used the Tutti Frutti DSP stack to create the band around the gable box Рyou can never go wrong with timeless black & white stripes!

A big ribbon bow to top it off – super simple!

Stamps: Fruit Basket
Cardstock: Pear Pizzazz, Real Red, Whisper White, Tutti Frutti DSP Stack, Mini SIlver Gable Box
Ink: Real Red, Pear Pizzazz
Other: Tranquil Tide Cotton Ribbon, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, Itty Bitty Fruit Punch Pack, Mini Silver Sequin Trim

Ombre Springtime Foil Video

Already mid-way through another week РI think this year is going to disappear even faster than last year!  The weather is just starting to turn here in Wellington after an amazing summer Рwe have had such a run of days with high temperatures and no wind and we have absolutely loved it!

Today’s project was made in this weeks Monday Make Live video – I am really enjoying doing these videos, it’s a great way to kick off the week!¬† This time I showed how to create an Ombre effect using the gorgeous Springtime Foils Specialty DSP (did you know this amazing paper is FREE until the end of March!)

The stamped images are from another of the Sale-a-Bration gifts Рthe Amazing You Stamp Set.  I love the combination of images and sentiments in this set, I just wish it could stay around a little longer! I stamped the flower image multiple times onto Powder Pink cardstock and then cut out the different layers and curving them with my bone folder Рpopping some up on dimensionals to create the 3-d effect.

The gold embellishments were used to tie in the gold foil on the background paper – this is a great way of balancing a project.

Watch how I created this card – including the Ombre background – in this video:

Stamps: Amazing You
Cardstock: Powder Pink, Whisper White, Springtime Foils Specialty DSP
Ink: Powder Pink, Blushing Bride, Basic Black
Other: Gold Faceted Gem, Gold Mini Sequin Trim, Sponge Brayer

Happy Perennial Birthday

Have you seen the Perennial Birthday Kit in the Occasions Catalogue? It’s fantastic project kit featuring cards and a gorgeous storage box that will keep you organised for birthday’s all year round!¬† What I love the most though is the Perennial Birthday stamp set that coordinates with the kit as it is so pretty and versatile.¬† This card was inspired by our demonstrator magazine Stampin’ Success:

All of the images on this card are from the stamp set and in total there are 14 images in the set so loads of options!¬† I stamped the large Happy Birthday repeatedly on the background before sponging on some Pear Pizzazz ink to create my focal point. I used Shimmery White cardstock for my stamped panel so although you can’t see it in the images, the card had a lovely shimmer to it!

The flowers were stamped straight onto Fresh Fig, Daffodil Delight & Pear Pizzazz cardstock before being fussy cut and layered on the card.

Stamps: Perennial Birthday
Cardstock: Fresh Fig, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Shimmery White
Ink: Basic Black, Pear Pizzazz, Crushed Curry

2 Ways to Colour Heartfelt Blooms & Video

I hope everyones week is going great so far – I have managed to tick off quite a few of the weeks ‘To Do’s’ already which is always a good feeling!¬† On Monday I continued my Monday Makes series of Live Videos on my Facebook Page where I shared 2 different ways to colour the beautiful Heartfelt Blooms stamp set (you can watch the video below).¬† This stamp set makes it so easy to create absolutely stunning cards with just one colour of ink, but I wanted to show a couple of other ways of using it.

The first colouring method was to add colour direct to the stamp using Stampin’ Daubers – this gave me bright, saturated colour on the different parts of the stamp.¬† Why a dauber and not Stampin’ Write Markers? Speed – I don’t like to do more work than I need to so it was simply faster to apply the colour using a dauber than to colour it with markers – but you could of course use that method too!¬† Another thing I like about using the daubers is that you get a softer edge between the colours – a blended change to another colour rather than a distinct edge.

To keep the focus on the stunning stamped image, I kept the rest of the card very simple with just the addition of some texture – the Simple Stripes Embossing Folder and some Linen Thread, as well as the same image stamped in the background.

The second method of colouring was using the Watercolour Pencils.  I stamped the image using Smoky Slate ink and then coloured straight over the top with my pencils using the shading on the image to guide where I added my colour.  I combined 2 colours of pencil on each area to give me shading and depth.  If you want to add more definition you can also use a Blender Pen to blend your shading more.

Once again I kept the finished card simple with just some background stamping and a touch of Linen Thread.

Watch the video for full details – and then go give it a try yourself!

Stamps: Heartfelt Blooms
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Rose Red, Whisper White
Ink: Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate, Chocolate Chip, Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, Old Olive, So Saffron, Watercolour Pencils
Other: Sponge Daubers, Linen Thread, Big Shot, Simple Stripes TIEF, Blender Pen

Peacock Card 2 Ways!

You will remember the Peacock Basket I shared last week as part of the Thinking Outside of the Box Blog Hop, well this first card came about as a direct result of having an extra stamped peacock image sitting on my desk and it was too pretty to throw away!

This is on one of our versatile Notecards so it’s great to slip in with orders heading out the door!¬† After completing this notecard I decided to try the same card in a different colour way and now I’m not sure which one I like best – which is your favourite?

I used a selection of embellishments for these cards but still stuck to the rule of 3!  In this case I used a Rhinestone, a Tutti Frutti Adhesive-Backed Sequin and a Regals Enamel Shape.

Don’t forget that this gorgeous Beautiful Peacock stamp set can be yours FREE until 31 March as part of our great Sale-a-Bration promotion.¬† Simply spend $110 and it is all yours – or choose from one of the other dozen options!

Stamps: Beautiful Peacock
Cardstock: Berry Burst, Dapper Denim, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White Notecards
Ink: Berry Burst, Dapper Denim, Elegant Eggplant, Wild Wasabi, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist
